How it Works

All modern vehicle engines have their tuning controlled by an ECU (Electronic Control Unit), a small computer that receives information from multiple sensors on the engine, transmission, braking and other operating systems to equate engine tuning parameters at around 200 times a second. This ECU is constantly monitoring and adapting to your driving style and requirements.

Almost all engine ECUs are dumbed down from the factory to compensate for poor quality fuel and poor servicing (e.g. blocked filters, worn spark plugs). By re-mapping the ECU operating parameters to maximize your engine’s potential, fantastic gains can be made in the vehicle’s torque, power, and general drivability.

About the ECU tuning Process

The process itself occurs over a two-day period. Firstly, the information is downloaded from your vehicle’s ECU and, along with a general report on the engine’s condition, is sent away for software remapping. The next day we will receive the vehicle specific remapped software to upload into your car.

The cost varies depending on the make and model. You will recoup your initial outlay in the years to come in both fuel economy and driving pleasure. The tune is tailored to remain well within the manufacturers’ design parameters so no engine damage will occur, however it may expose any weak points needing attention.

Not sure I picked up the right car last night Simon, It's certainly nothing like the Mini I dropped in in the morning. The inconsistent idle has gone, the acceleration and smooth running together with what is a significant power boost have reminded us why we got into a Cooper S in the first place. Pace Auto Werks have excellent diagnostic and servicing facilities, and I always trust them with my beemer... I had a few car issues since purchasing a second-hand car, and Simon and the crew do their best to get my car booked in as soon as possible if ever there's a problem or general servicing required, they've always been able to diagnose and fix any issues on the day.
